UZH Postdoc Grant

Through funding from the UZH Postdoc Grants, the University of Zurich supports its early career researchers at the postdoctoral level. Qualified postdoctoral researchers embarking on an academic career receive UZH Postdoc Grant funding to support them in carrying out a research project at the UZH. Primarily salary funds are granted in order to provide researchers with protected research time for their project.

1. Call 2024

The call for proposals has ended. The applications are currently in the evaluation phase. A list of all approved projects will be published here on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. The binding decision will be sent out by the end of July 2024.

Who can submit an application?

Postdocs and habilitation candidates (until conferral of habilitation) who are either employed by or plan a research project at the UZH.

Not eligible for funding are assistant professors, externally funded assistant professors, associate professors, and full professors.

What will be funded?

  • The applicant’s salary
  • Materials (on a limited scale)

The maximum duration of project funding depends on the faculty at which the project is carried out.

Faculty of Theology: 12 months
Faculty of Law: 12 months
Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics: 12 months
Faculty of Medicine: 12 months
Vetsuisse Faculty: 12 months
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: 24 months
Faculty of Science: 12 months

When is the next deadline?

Calls for the Postdoc funding line take place once per annum.

Start of  next call: 1 December 2024
Next submission deadline: 1 February 2025, 17:00 (MEZ/CET)
(applies as well to extensions)
Earliest start of funding: 1 August 2025
