SNSF Spark 2024: 24 projects at UZH

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is funding 24 innovative, out-of-the-box projects at the University of Zurich. The total amount of funding awarded amounts to over 2.3 million Swiss francs.

The Spark funding instrument encourages applicants to submit unconventional research projects based on novel ideas and methods. The projects can also include high-risk research, which sets Spark apart from other funding instruments. In the 2024 call, 24 UZH researchers convinced the evaluation committees with their applications. Of the funded projects, 14 are in the field of biology & medicine, 6 in the humanities and social sciences and 4 in STEM. In total, the SNSF decided to support 157 applications with a total of CHF 15 million.
