Building Sustainable Research Structures at UZH
The University of Zurich is providing 3.6 million Swiss francs to support the development of sustainable research structures. The funds will go towards interdisciplinary projects, including a new Institute of Archaeology, a centre for research synthesis and the development of innovative immunotherapies.

The funding is part of the strategic TRANSFORM initiative – with the aim of creating long-term interdisciplinary research structures at UZH.
One focus is on the establishment of a new Institute of Archaeology, Classics and Classical Studies (IAKA), which is being supported with CHF 1.8 million. By bringing together existing institutes and seminars, the IAKA aims to advance research into ancient cultures using modern technologies. Another project is the Centre for Research Synthesis, which is being funded with one million francs. This centre will develop methods to improve the quality and reproducibility of scientific studies. Finally, the Centre for Engineered Immunotherapy is being supported with 750,000 francs. The aim of this centre is to translate research findings in the field of immunotherapy into clinical applications more quickly.
