Our mission is to provide support to the biomedical research community at the University of Zurich in matters related to the care and use of laboratory animals, primarily in the field of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.

Our goal is to ensure humane and high quality animal care in order to minimise discomfort, distress and pain to laboratory animals whilst adhering to the cantonal and federal guidelines and ordinances and to ensure good hygiene standards in order to minimize effects and influences of pathogens on research outcomes.
