Title / Titel Clinical correlates of two illness coping styles
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung Two illness coping styles have been described in psychotic disorders, named integration and sealing over. The study explores the clinical correlates of these coping styles. First results indicated that sealing over correlated with negative syndrome, worse psychosocial adjustment and diagnosis of paranoid type of schizophrenic disorder, but that these variables explained only 25% of the variance. Therefore, the influence of other variables is currently being explored including the global level of functioning, locus of control, depressive mood and personality dimensions of „novelty seeking“, „harm avoidance“ und „reward dependence“. The data have been collected and are now being prepared for statistical evaluation.
